Reports have circulated suggesting that Sheikh Mansour, the proprietor of Manchester City, has displayed curiosity regarding the acquisition of Everton, a Premier League soccer team. Nevertheless, there exists some contention regarding the depth of this intrigue and whether a prospective acquisition was ever on the brink of materializing.

Why Did Sheikh Mansour Consider Buying Everton

Everton’s chairman, Bill Kenwright, disclosed in 2011 that Sheikh Mansour would have considered acquiring Everton had circumstances aligned favorably. A post on the Bluemoon forum, a Manchester City fan platform, hints at Sheikh Mansour’s interest in Everton but suggests that negotiations never reached the point of an imminent purchase.

A 2011 Guardian article concerning Sheikh Mansour’s investments in Manchester City does not mention any inclination towards Everton. A recent Reddit post from an Everton fan playfully thanks Sheikh Mansour for abstaining from purchasing the club.

In 2017, Everton was acquired by Farhad Moshiri, who also holds shares in USM, a company owned by Alisher Usmanov. While the two have collaborated in various business endeavors, Moshiri has affirmed his dedication to Everton, dismissing any intentions of leveraging the club for his other business interests.

Presently, Everton is contemplating relocating from its historic home at Goodison Park, which has drawn criticism from fans due to the diminishing matchday atmosphere.

Was There any Official Statement from Everton’s Board Regarding Sheikh Mansour’s Interest in Buying the Club

Based on the search results, there is no definitive official statement from Everton’s board regarding Sheikh Mansour’s potential acquisition of the club. While in 2011, Everton’s chairman, Bill Kenwright, did disclose that Sheikh Mansour would have considered purchasing the club under specific circumstances, there is no record of an official statement from Everton’s board on this matter.

In 2023, Everton officials addressed various concerns, including club finances, the January transfer window, and decision-making processes shaping the club’s future. However, no mention was made of Sheikh Mansour or any connection to Manchester City, indicating that no official statement regarding such a connection was ever released by Everton.

Furthermore, in 2023, Everton responded to claims regarding a previous interest from Sheikh Mansour, valued at £17 billion, by stating that no offer had been made by Sheikh Mansour to acquire Everton Football Club. Consequently, it appears that no formal statement from Everton’s board was ever issued regarding Sheikh Mansour’s interest in purchasing the club.

Did Everton’s Board Consider Sheikh Mansour’s Offer to Buy the Club

Based on the search results, there is no concrete evidence to suggest that Everton’s board ever entertained the idea of Sheikh Mansour’s offer to acquire the club. While Everton’s chairman, Bill Kenwright, disclosed in 2011 that Sheikh Mansour would have been interested in buying Everton under specific circumstances.

There is no documented instance of an official statement from Everton’s board regarding this matter. In 2023, Everton’s present owner, Farhad Moshiri, entered into a deal to sell his complete ownership stake in the club to the American investment firm 777 Partners. Notably, there was no reference to Sheikh Mansour or any affiliation with Manchester City in this transaction.

    Final Thoughts

Although rumors have suggested Sheikh Mansour’s interest in Everton, it remains unclear whether discussions progressed to the point of a formal offer. Everton is now under the ownership of Farhad Moshiri, who has emphasized his commitment to the club rather than using it as a vehicle for his other business ventures.
