MANCHESTER-When Manchester City takes on rival Manchester United at Wembley Stadium this weekend, they’ll be hoping to break their Community Shield curse.

Who will start up front for united?

The team led by Pep Guardiola has participated in the last three Community Shield matches, but they haven’t taken home the trophy since 2019. The recent curtain-raiser matches have left the Citizens unhappy after losses to Leicester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal. One of City’s problems in the Community Shield has frequently been a lack of passion. They have a reputation for being sluggish starters and frequently view the game as a glorified pre-season friendly. Nevertheless, City fans will be eager to exact revenge this weekend for losing to United in the FA Cup final last season. For their pre-season duties, the majority of City’s daring stars have returned later than expected. Due to their participation in summer football tournaments, the majority of the first team has not had much opportunity to relax before 2024–2025. It is unclear how many will participate in the capital. Ederson is questionable for Saturday’s match after recovering from his eye socket fracture during City’s preseason tour of the US. Consequently, even if Ortega’s error in the FA Cup final last season proved expensive, the dependable backup may be used. A fitness issue for the youthful defender exists going into the weekend. Since Kyle Walker, a talented 19-year-old, has just returned from his England duties at Euro 2024, he may need to start at Wembley if he is even slightly fit.

Will city stick with their star studded midfield?

It seems sense that City leaked goals while on tour in the United States. Since much of their defense was sidelined, Guardiola must have been relieved to witness Portugal’s quarter final departure from the Euro 2024 competition and have the formidable Dias return. This weekend, Akanji, a different Euro 2024 quarterfinalist, ought to be paired with Dias. The Swiss defender will step up as John Stones and Nathan Ake are gradually added back to the team. With the exception of one mistake in the FA Cup final, Gvardiol’s performance toward the end of 2023–2024 was fantastic. In the opposition’s final third, the Croatian defender transformed into a prime Marco van Basten. Rodri might not be able to play against United after winning Euro 2024, therefore De Bruyne could have to play deeper. Though life isn’t ideal, you want the Belgian as close to the opposing box as you can. Due to Croatia’s elimination from the group stage, Kovacic returned early and has been an important, seasoned player on a young preseason team. He is the most defensively conscious senior midfielder for City, aside from Rodri. With the exception of Kalvin Phillips, of course. It’s most definitely not necessary to thrust Bernardo Silva back into the starting lineup. Throughout the US trip, Bobb scored two goals and gave three assists, demonstrating his outstanding preseason form. The young Norwegian may have a true breakout season this year.

Will Guardiola spring a surprise in goal?

According to casportsyahoo, McAtee has also had a very strong preseason campaign. Though he was demoted while on loan at Sheffield United in 2023–24, the 21-year-old now has the opportunity to play a supporting role for England’s top team this season. Guardiola had to have taken notice after a goal and two assists in the US. Grealish’s absence from Euro 2024 has one benefit: he is now healthy for the 2024–2025 campaign. The 28-year-old has to do better after a challenging season in which Jeremy Doku almost snatched his starting place. Otherwise, he may lose his job next summer. Six matches with six goals versus United. So far in the preseason, five goals. Wishing United’s injured defense luck on Saturday. They will require it. As per essetiallysports, Unfortunately, Manchester City still has some unfavorable news. Having made appearances for their individual countries in the recent Euros, Phil Foden, Kyle Walker, John Stones, and Rodri have all returned to training and have not yet been welcomed by the Spaniard. Guardiola has access to Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku, Bernardo Silva, Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias, Matheus Nunes, and the most recent addition Savinho, even if none of them have played in a friendly match.

Who will partner Maguire in United’s defense?

The first player listed as missing the match is Leny Yoro, who suffered a foot injury after being struck earlier. Furthermore, Rasmus Hojlund is the next in line, although he is still out because of a hamstring injury. Victor Lindelof, Will Fish, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were ruled out of the Liverpool match, while Jonny Evans was ruled out due to sickness.
