According to a recent report there are some new developments that could impact Man City and their FFP regulations. In February 2023 Manchester City broke the FFP rules. Their player was hit with over 100 charges due to violation of the rules. These charges put the club at risk of severe penalties, including point deductions or even expulsion from competitions if found guilty. Despite this, Manchester City did not agree on this wrongdoing. Instead of them defending their case. It is uncertain till now the duration of the legal process. It may be several years or not.

Last season, Manchester City achieved remarkable success by clinching the treble, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and the Champions League. Their triumphs on the field were accompanied by significant off-field growth, marked by record-breaking revenues.

However, for many critics, Manchester City’s achievements are overshadowed by the cloud of suspicion cast by the FFP charges. The club’s substantial financial backing from owner Sheikh Mansour has fueled skepticism regarding the fairness of their success.

This season, Manchester City has faced increased scrutiny, especially following the sanctions imposed on Everton and more recently Nottingham Forest for breaching FFP rules.

One big problem people are talking about regarding Manchester City is their deal with Etihad, a company that sponsors them. A newspaper called Der Spiegel says that Etihad might not have paid all the money they were supposed to give Manchester City as part of their sponsorship. Instead, it’s suggested that Manchester City’s owners may have secretly given them some of the money themselves. If this is true, it would be breaking important rules about money set by both the Premier League and UEFA, which are organizations that oversee football. It could also mean that the leaders of Manchester City and Etihad worked together to do something dishonest.

The situation has broader implications, particularly for Etihad, which is preparing for an Initial Public Offering (IPO). Such an offering would necessitate full disclosure of their financial accounts. However, there are doubts within the stock market community about Etihad’s willingness to undergo such scrutiny, fearing it might unveil evidence of fraudulent behavior.

A senior figure in the investment banking industry highlighted the gravity of the allegations, emphasizing that they extend beyond football regulations.

The allegation means that many people think that Man City bosses and Etihad bosses worked collectively for cheating. People also wonder if the club is being honest and fair in how it works. Also, it makes people worry about what Manchester City told Silverlake, a company that invested a lot in the club. This shows that the Premier League’s accusations are very serious and not just about breaking money rules. It’s about honesty and fairness, and it could affect many things beyond just football.

    The Bottom line

In summary, the latest developments surrounding Manchester City’s FFP charges not only threaten the club’s standing in football but also raise serious questions about transparency, integrity, and financial practices within the organization. The outcome of this legal battle will not only shape Manchester City’s future but also have repercussions for the broader football community and the businesses associated with the club.
